Brokerage Fees & Cost of Membership
How do you support the network and cover your overhead?
We have designed the Kentuckiana Trade Exchange from the ground up to be a transformative barter exchange. We're not a corporation and we utilize open source software to reduce our overhead cost. We're a Kentucky registered non-profit. Any excess fees, after our monthly overhead, is refunded to our members in the form of new services or donations to a member non-profit.
To cover our overhead, our system charges a small brokerage fee in cash (10%) each time a member uses barter credits to make a transaction with another member on our site. We do not charge a monthly membership fee in either trade or cash, and our yearly membership fee is currently waived. This fee is applied only to transactions which result in the transfer of credits from a member to another member.
